It’s hard to believe, but prior to my Engagement Session with Michelle and Darryl, I had never been to Village Ice Cream. I can’t believe I’ve missed out on such a wonderful place! In all honesty it is quite tucked away, making Village Ice Cream one of Calgary’s hidden gems – and I’m so glad to have been introduced to this place. As an avid ice cream maker (and ice cream eating fan), the discovery of Village Ice Cream makes me all kinds of happy.
Meeting Michelle and Darryl for the first time was a pleasure, and I quickly learned that one of my friends is actually going to be a part of their wedding party. It never ceases to amaze me just how small our seemingly large city really is; quite often, the people I meet are in some complex way related to someone else that I know of or have had the honor of being their photographer in some way/event. With Michelle and Darryl, this was also one of the very first times where the roles were reversed and the groom was the one who was particular about the photographer hired for the wedding, so I was really pleased that I passed the test! We set out to do the Engagement Session photos in a number of locations, including the areas of Inglewood, Memorial, and of course, East Village for delicious Village Ice Cream.
This Engagement Session is easily one of my favorites due to Michelle and Darryl’s awesome facial expressions. Seriously. It brings me so much joy to see the looks between them, and they truly seem like a really fun couple. Needless to say, their upcoming winter wedding is bound to be a total blast and I cannot wait to be a part of this fantastic celebration!
For those wondering, Michelle and Darryl’s ice cream choices from Village Ice Cream were salted caramel and chili chocolate, respectively. I think it’s pretty clear in the photos below which flavor was the preferred one. ;)
