I met Lysha many years ago at a small house party – became Facebook friends with her and our conversations were really sporadic throughout the years. I learned that she got engaged and it wasn’t too long after that I got an email from her being ever so excited and wanting me to shoot her wedding. We talked some more and the way that we chat, you’d think we have known each other all of our lives. You know you’re going to be good friends with a bride when you can talk poop jokes. Yup. That’s right.
Needless to say, I was immediately enamored by this wonderful girl and I discovered that Shaun is just as cool as his bride-to-be. Lysha booked me pretty darn far in advance and as a result, she’s had no struggles in her wedding planning so far (her words!) – and that planning events and parties are a ton of fun for her. She says she likes to get things done early so that they can run into zero issues.
Lysha and Shaun had met through mutual friends. When Lysha reconnected with a high school classmate, it turned out that Shaun was part of her classmate’s circle of friends and so the two became closer and closer over time. I asked Lysha about the proposal story, here’s what she said: “Our engagement definitely took me by surprise! We were at home, it was August, and it was hot! (we lived in a 2nd floor condo at the time) I had the day off work, so did Shaun, and he was bugging me all morning to go do something, the park, the Zoo, anything. I refused and stayed home, it was far too hot to go out. He ran out, I thought to get a McDonalds Smoothie, but he really went to get the ring he was keeping hidden at our friends, Kyle and Leslie’s, house. He came home and asked me to come out in the living room. I was in bed, sans pants, and frankly didn’t want to get up. This went back and forth for a while of him telling to come out so he could give me something, and me not wanting to go, since I thought it was a smoothie! Finally I got up and put on some shorts, while yelling to him “This better be worth me putting pants on!” I walked out, and there he was with the ring, and yes, it was definitely worth putting pants on for!”. I love it!! :D
Their Engagement Session took place in an area near Pincher Creek that’s very special to Lysha. She says, “Our engagement session was done at a place that holds a special meaning to me. It was at a piece of land, near Pincher Creek, that is owned by my Aunt Terrie and Uncle Wayne. I couldn’t tell you when they bought it, or when it came into our lives, but I don’t remember a time without it. We spend so many summer weekends there as a family camping, fishing, eating…. drinking… all of it. Every time we go, my regular life stress melts away. It is a wonderful area that means a lot to my family, and I always knew I wanted to do our Engagement Session there, even on the windiest day!”
