I was almost dreading getting around to blogging this wedding. The good kind of dread, if such a thing exists. In many ways, I still can’t believe this wonderful event happened… it feels like it was part of some hazy dream, long-time-ago fairy tale that I was so fortunate to be a part of. My finger hardly left my shutter the entire day, and I couldn’t drink in enough of the details. I walked away with so many photos from this day, that I couldn’t imagine culling anything out for this blog post. It was a happy dread, folks. Here I am, many moons later, 129 images of this wonderful wedding put together of what is only a taste of this visually and emotionally stimulating steampunk wedding.
Jessica and Jeff had their Engagement Session middle of last year, and I threw an inner giddy fit when they told me about their big day plans for a steampunk wedding. I asked Jessica about what made her and Jeff decide on a steampunk wedding theme, and what was the biggest challenge with putting it all together – Jessica replied, “we love dressing up and we were at Heritage Park… a great combo! We love steampunk – a few years ago, we discovered steampunk and dressed up for Halloween that way. We got so many compliments and comments on how it really suits us. We love the look and the culture of it. The hardest part was explaining steampunk to the family!”
When asked if there was any piece of decor or clothing had special meaning for their steampunk wedding, Jessica told me, “most of the decor was handcrafted by us and our family. Mostly we wanted to hold an amazing event for our friends and family. How we looked was not that important” however “if anything, we’d have to say the table favors – homemade jelly from the tree in our front yard!”
Jessica’s favorite part of the wedding day, besides saying “I do!” of course, was the First Look, the amazing sunset, how amazing all of the guests looked, and her grandma buying her and all of her cousins lots of shooters!
In terms of any important advice Jessica would give to future couples planning their weddings, she says, “trust the people you’re paying… the DJ, wedding planner, and photographer do this for a living. Don’t try to tell them their jobs.” As if that wasn’t awesome enough advice, she adds something that I believe is super, super important, “don’t try to change yourself before the wedding… your partner loved you the way you are the day you got engaged. SPending time stressing about losing weight, learning to dance, etc. will take away from the enjoyment of planning your life together!”. Such solid advice from a very wise woman!
I could say more, but I will let the photos do the rest of the talking for this wedding. Jessica and Jeff, thank you SO much for letting me be a part of this absolutely stunning and lovely celebration! And thank you to Glen of Glen Co Photography for his amazing help during the big day!
