aaron + brian { buffalo mountain lodge intimate wedding }

Aaron and Brian are super close friends of Natalie and Bryce, and it was thanks to Natalie that I had the honor and opportunity to photograph Aaron and Brian’s wedding in Buffalo Mountain Lodge, Banff.  Natalie had sent me a text message, idly asking about my availability for Aaron’s wedding day, since it had to be moved up.  Natalie wasn’t sure if I was willing to accommodate such a short notice booking, and not to mention so close to Christmas, but I was definitely interested and set up a meeting with both Aaron and Brian.  I couldn’t help but be moved by their wedding day details at Buffalo Mountain Lodge; they were planning on having a really intimate wedding ceremony and Aaron was really excited on having photos done around the picturesque Banff scenery.  The day of the wedding was perfect weather, so we couldn’t have asked for more! I recall completely biffing it into the snow with my camera gear for one of these shots, but hey, that’s the risk of the wedding photographer.  ;)

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the bouquets made out of paper by the bride herself?! How absolutely spectacular they are!!

Fun fact:  Aaron received a wedding band, but Brian’s exchanged symbol of marriage was a high five. I love seeing fun and unique ideas like that! You can see Brian holding onto Aaron’s ring on his pinky below, as he double duties as groom and ring bearer.  :)

I asked Aaron for a few words about her wedding day and her connection to her groom, Brian.  Here is what she says:

“It’s hard to say looking back, when the moment is that you realize you’ve found a person that literally is your other half. We truly believe that this only happens a few times in our lives, with friends or lovers, and it should be cherished and celebrated.

For us we chose to celebrate our undeniable connection in a very small and private ceremony. We spent a long time flip flopping over what kind of event would be best but in the end decided on a December ceremony that was booked in a matter of days. Everything seemed to just come together in a way that made us know it had been the best choice. Banff was breath taking as usual and could not have served as a better backdrop to capture that special day.

Our love for one another is not fancy or glamorous, it does not come with expensive things or high expectations. It is as natural as the air we breathe and as warm as the summer sun on your face. Marrying your best friend is a life changing experience that will not soon be forgotten.”

Please enjoy the images from my last wedding of 2013, Aaron and Brian’s union. Thank you so much, Aaron and Brian, for the amazing privilege to be a part of your wonderful ceremony!
