Ahh~ I’m so jealous looking at these images of warm, sunny days. It was such a beautiful day for Nicole and Mike’s outdoor Baker Park wedding in Calgary. I met up with them just before the ceremony, where they had a First Look, and I *love* how teary-eyed Mike got! (And again at the ceremony!)
The green river provided a lovely backdrop for their ceremony, and we headed off to Edworthy Park to visit Angel’s Cappuccino & Ice Cream cafe. Nothing says refreshing on a hot summer day like ice cream. :) The soft pink accents for the bride and bridesmaids, and the deep purple accents for the groomsmen worked so wonderfully together.
I asked Nicole to describe her planning process. She says, “We both knew that we wanted an outdoor wedding while staying within the city, so Baker Park seemed like a good fit. We wanted a fairly simple and somewhat traditional wedding with a few person touches. I think we accomplished this pretty well. As for the planning process, we did all of the planning ourselves. We didn’t really have a specific process — it just kind of came together. I kept changing my mind about colours and decor, which complicated things a bit, but in the end it all worked out.”
Nicole mentions her favorite parts of the day, “Aside from the ceremony, we really enjoyed cutting the wedding cake with a chainsaw, or rather, posing for a photo-op with the chainsaw. Either way, it was a fun moment that was probably pretty unique to our wedding.” Anna’s note: this was definitely my favorite part of the day, too! Check it out in the photos below. :)
What is Nicole’s greatest advice for wedding planning? “The best advice I could give would be to start early and stay organized. You must also learn to love the spreadsheet. I used Google Drive so that I could easily share my spreadsheets, such as the guest list, with my mom and bridesmaids and anyone involved in the planning process.”
Talk about an organized modern bride! Thank you so much, Nicole and Mike, for including my team in your special day! Big thanks to Crystal of Sujata Photography for her wonderful help during their day!
