Rebecca and Jason‘s wedding was a total blast, and I’m sure it’s mostly due to the easy-going (yet highly organized) nature of these two school teachers. With just a slight overcast, you couldn’t have asked for a more perfect summer day. The couple decided on doing photos before the ceremony, so we had lined them up for a first look on picturesque Nose Hill Park. Jason and the boys arrived first, and had a bit of time to enjoy cigars while Jason picked a cute daisy to present to Rebecca. As the girls pulled up, everyone but Rebecca went off to the side as Rebecca climbed up the hill to greet her groom. The moment when they first look at each other is pure magic as they hug, kiss, and wipe away tears.
We hit up one of their favorite local bars, 4th Spot Kitchen & Bar, for a few photos and a bit of liquid courage. ;)
Finishing up at Rotary Park for the formals, we get ready to go to the church, Knox United. They read beautiful, hand written vows to each other and bust out of the church with the biggest smiles! While they wait for their congregation to exit, the two of them take a moment to relax (check out this secret photo not posted on this blog – and ‘like’ the Facebook page while you’re at it!).
The reception was held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, which is such a gorgeous spot with awesome ceiling lights that create a fantastic effect for photos. The room was decorated beautifully, and it seemed like just about everyone was on the dance floor at one point! One of my favorite moments was just as Rebecca and Jason were going to cut the cake, the head from the groom of the cake topper came right off! Everyone had a great laugh over that. :D
I asked Rebecca about her planning process and she wrote, “We wanted outdoors but had too many guests and well…we live in Calgary…so…we went with Knox because it’s beautiful and with Ramada Plaza because my brother did his there and it was a good.” In terms of what her favorite part of the day, she says, “Our vows were personal and it was a memorable ceremony with my nieces needing their parents up at the altar ;) Riding around in the limo bus was fun and photos weren’t nearly as painful as I expected…kind of fun actually. Dancing with our family and friends was also a highlight.” Her greatest advice? “Get a wedding planner! Ha! Seriously, make weekly goals as early as 9 months ahead of time and lean on the people in your life willing to help. The important things will all work out.”
Such an amazing day! Thank you so much to Rebecca and Jason for including me in your day. A big thank you to Erin of Erin K Wilson Photography for your amazing shots and help on the day!
