I was basically head over heels with the idea of using Cibo Calgary for Katie and Adam’s engagement session. I’ve had the fortune of photographing this restaurant for Google Maps Business View so to be able to use this space in a more creative way with two amazing people was like a dream come true! We headed outside for a few winter engagement photos, and it was a great day for it. My favorite part of the session was to watch how silly Adam was being and how it made Katie smile. :)

How did you two meet?
We met in Edmonton in 2008 at the beginning of medical school. We were in the same class however, for the first 3 years, we were more acquaintances than friends. That being said, there was a definite attraction between us from the beginning.
I (Adam) would always sit behind Katie, just so I could see her walk into the classroom wearing her yoga pants.
I (Katie) thought Adam was incredibly cute wearing his suit and tie to class everyday; he was always the joker, making people laugh. In our last year of medical school, we started dating after we had found out that we had matched to our residency positions 4 provinces apart; in Alberta and Ontario. For some reason though, neither of us were overwhelmed with the fact that we would be getting into a long distance relationship.
What are some common interests that keep you two together?
Katie: Westjet and AirCanada pretty much keep us going, and we loooove to Skype. Ha! When we do actually get to spend time together though, it usually involves family and lots of red wine. We also love being outdoors skiing, hiking and rock climbing and the boy loves to dance!
Adam: I feel like such a lucky guy since she actually enjoys going to Home Depot with me; she’s a great renovator.

Adam: There was one night in the middle of fourth year medical school, when Katie finally came out to the bar. As soon as she got a glimpse of my dance moves, I thought she would be all mine. However, it took me a while to convince this funny, smart and beautiful woman to actually go out with me.
Katie: I remember watching Adam on the dance floor, surrounded by a group of our female friends, spinning and dipping pretty much all of them. I eventually made my way out onto the dance floor and got to experience his epic dance moves first hand. I thought to myself “Wow, men like this actually exist? He’s smart, successful, athletic, really, really easy on the eyes AND he dances!” The seed was planted and things progressed from there.
