My dear friends, Ashley and Shaun, have tied the knot. They endured many difficulties with their wedding planning, including a very last minute venue change only days before their big day. These two came together in the face of adversity and pulled through, with an absolutely stunning ceremony. We even had moose come up to greet us during the rehearsal, which is probably the most Canadian thing I’ve ever encountered with weddings.
I’ll never forget when I was looking for Ashley just before the wedding ceremony, and I found her attempting to put on her necklace on her own without much luck. The poor girl was so nervous, her hands were trembling like nothing I’ve ever seen before so of course I jumped in to help her. As the vendor that is with the bride and groom all day, I tend to wear many hats during the day for small tasks such as helping the bride get dressed. But, moreover, this time it was my honor to help her as a friend. I got approximately 8-9 hugs from Ashley in the span of an hour, so I think I did good.
I honestly didn’t believe that I would ever be lucky enough to have lightsabers as part of the day, and yet, here we are. Shaun and all of his groomsmen were probably looking forward to lightsaber battles more than anything this day (well, Shaun was also probably looking forward to marry Ashley as well). They both say that their favorite part of the day was, in their words, “was when we took a few short moments to ourselves to walk around together, in peace and quiet. It’s so easy to get caught up in things and it’s important to take a moments to just “be” and to take it all in. The other neat experience for us was at the wedding rehearsal, when a pair of moose walked right into the middle of it. They were no more than 10 meters away from all of us. It was certainly a sight to behold.”
Ashley and Shaun, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me the honor of photographing your wedding day. I’m so happy and proud of you.
Thank you to Crystal of Sujata Photography for her assistance during the day!
