Secretly, one of my favorite things to do is to start talking Polish when no one expects or knows that you’re actually Polish. Every once in a while, I will have a Polish bride or groom that have family/friends that fly in for their weddings from Poland, and it really comes in handy for me to know Polish to help them around the photo part of the wedding day! Kinga and Bill’s day was no exception; I really enjoyed spending time with all of the Polish girls in the morning while they were getting ready. :)
Kinga is probably one of the more laid-back brides I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. She was extremely calm and full of humor during the entire day, which was perfect also for Bill, who was much of the same attitude. I got to experience a religious Greek wedding for the first time ever – it was surprisingly quick and not to mention inside one of the most beautiful churches I’ve seen in Calgary (St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church)! During the wedding rehearsal, I learned that the furnishings and decorations of the church were custom made in Greece and brought over/assembled by the man who made them from Athens. That’s freaking amazing.
We took to the busy downtown streets for their photography, and ended up at the amazing and beautiful River Cafe for the end of the night. It was an open bar, and they had a great chalkboard sign with “His” and “Hers” drinks, which everyone really enjoyed along with the amazing food. I was surprised to see the stoic Bill get emotional during his beautiful speech to Kinga. And then they danced the night away. One of my favorite parts was towards the end of the night when Bill, out of nowhere, came up to me and gave me a big hug and said that I was “awesome”. It was such a sweet gesture. :D
Thank you so much, Kinga and Bill, for the opportunity to photograph your amazing wedding story! Thank you as well to Robert of ROGO Photography for assisting on the day of!
