My couples have expressed such gratitude to have my team photograph their wedding experience but, truly, I always feel like the most luckiest one to be a part of this chapter in their lives. This rings true especially for Sarra and Boneto. This amazing duo were so accommodating and welcoming from the start, not to mention they have the most adorable daughter ever — who is new my BFF. The threat of rain loomed throughout our portrait time during the wedding day but even though we heard thundering in the distance, we kept dry and even caught an amazing rainbow towards the end of the night! I was so happy to finally have an excuse to visit the amazing Grandfather Tree that’s on the Cochrane Ranchehouse property; Boneto called it a Deku Tree to which I wholeheartedly agreed (I can hear Sarra eyerolling from across the city at our geeky references). ;)
One of my favorite parts of the day was during the getting ready, when Sarra mentioned a video I had posted on my Facebook page about grooms crying while seeing their brides walk down the aisle. Sarra was convinced that Boneto wouldn’t cry based on what he had said to her a few days earlier (that he didn’t want her to be disappointed if he didn’t tear up) only to be proven totally wrong. Boneto’s emotions got the better of him and he teared up even before he saw Sarra — and then more when he saw Sarra — much to our surprise! It was such a genuine and sweet moment!
Thank you, Sarra and Boneto, for just being your amazing selves and for trusting me to document your wedding experience! It was an honor to be invited into your home and family.
Describe your planning process!
Sarra & Boneto: “We both wanted something unique to us. We debated the idea of a destination wedding to somewhere like Mexico, but knew it would be difficult for some of our family and friends. At the same time, we didn’t want to get married within the city of Calgary and were looking at locations around Banff and Canmore. We ended up settling on the RancheHouse. Boneto loved the rustic feel – he was actually really invested in helping with the planning!”
What was your favorite part of the day?
Sarra & Boneto: “We loved the reception. It was so fun to celebrate with our family and friends, seeing all of our hardwork become reality. We wanted it to be an amazing party and it really was.”
Any advice to couples planning their wedding?
Sarra & Boneto: “Hire a day-of coordinator!! Doing so was one of the best investments into our wedding and Faye helped our wedding run so smoothly. We would also recommend getting to know your photographer. You want someone who puts you at ease and makes you comfortable!”
