If there was ever an engagement session that screams “Anna”, it’s an engagement session done at our new local Regal Cat Cafe. Seriously. I am all about this, 100%.
I proposed the cat cafe idea to Matthew, to which he responded with a dozen cat GIFs so I knew I had hit the nail on the head with the suggestion. Tia, the wonderful owner of the cat cafe, was totally on board and we got in during a time where we had the whole place to ourselves. I don’t think I could have asked for a more cuter and cat-loving couple than these two!
How did you two get together?
“Matthew was working at Blacks Photography, while Adrienne was in first year at ACAD. Adrienne enjoyed her frequent trips to Blacks, as she enjoyed seeing the cute guy when he was working. Matthew was always happy to watch the most beautiful customer the store had ever seen come in. After a time, everyone at the store agreed – he had to ask her out! This led to one of the greatest first dates in recorded history – hot chocolate at Higher Ground in front of frosty windows and a fireplace, and a snuggly walk home!”
Tell us about the proposal!
“Matthew was completely unaware as he worked away on editing as Adrienne set up a hundred candles in the living room and around the Christmas tree. When she called him out, his first words were “….hold on…” before running away to grab his camera and take a photo of the most beautiful sight he had ever seen! (Yes, it caught him off guard!)”
What are some things you enjoy doing together?
“We enjoy doing so much together! Even if we’re not doing the same thing, we enjoy sharing the same space. We love cycling, skiing, hiking, walking, photographing, camping, and generally enjoying the great outdoors – when we’re not on a brunch or dinner date!”

“Last year, we took our most major trip to date – a 5 week drive to St. John’s, NL, and back. Exploring so much of this country while not being separated once wasn’t even difficult. Bodes well for the marriage!”
