Andrea + Nathan | Canmore Engine Bridge Engagement Session

Any excuse to photograph in the mountains is a good one, if you ask me. While I do love the city look a lot, taking advantage of being so close to the Rocky Mountains is always a great idea for engagement photos!  Andrea and Nathan’s engagement session in the Alberta Rocky Mountains was a mix of perfect weather and personality as the two planned different outfits for different parts around the town.  We hit up some of my favorite areas of Canmore, including the beautiful Engine Bridge, Quarry Park, and a super scenic place called Riders of Rohan (I mean, what an amazing geeky name!).

How did you two meet?
Andrea: We met through mutual friends. They almost didn’t want to set us up because we are both quiet and thought we would end up sitting in silence. It turned into a day long first date, so we did a lot more talking than they expected. We pretty much knew we were the one for each other right away.

Tell us about the proposal!
Andrea: I was surprised. He proposed on our 18th month anniversary in our house. He tried to get me to go out for sushi, but I didn’t feel like it, so we ended up going to Jimmy’s for shawarmas.

What are some of the common interests that bond you?
Andrea: Traveling to new places (eg. Japan, Iceland, Hawaii). Also trying new recipes which often turns into something completely different from the original recipe, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

Share one of your favorite memories with us!
Andrea: Our first date was just before Christmas and I was going to visit family in Medicine Hat. All through Christmas we were texting each other as well as texting with our mutual friends trying to be vague about how our date went. We tried to make them think it didn’t go well. On New Year’s day, I had plans with friends (including our mutual friends) and we decided to surprise them and have Nathan come along. We were hoping to be the last to arrive, so we tried to arrive late and were hiding out in the car around the corner. Of course, our mutual friends were late and they saw us and we got to see their surprised reaction in their car, not quite as planned.

I can’t wait to share their incredible wedding, coming soon!
