Amanda and Wojciech’s Calgary summer wedding was beautifully intimate and so full of love! I’m so glad these two wanted to incorporate not only some gorgeous summer greenery but also some of Calgary’s Inglewood area including one of my favorite spots, Plant. Had such a blast with this amazing couple!
Tell us how you met!
A & W: We met through church. The new priest at Amanda’s Parish recognized that Amanda was single. This same priest also was quite close with Wojciech from St.Joseph’s church. Amanda was at her friend’s in Chestermere when the Priest popped in for visit and informed her of someone he knew that was also single and thought it was worth a try to get us to meet. It was interesting; Wojciech had the same name as Amanda’s friend. Through googling Wojciech’s background, Amanda learned many eccentric coincidences – such as, he shared her Mom’s same Birthday, was also from Lethbridge, and also studied Chemistry in school etc. Wojciech also checked out Amanda’s Facebook and LinkedIn profile online and was intrigued about meeting. They decided to meet at Kawa on November 26th 2016 for a coffee. Initial feelings were warm on both sides. They both felt comfortable, like they had known each other for years. They were both eager to see each other again, but also wanted to take things slow. There seemed to be no hesitation on either side – definitely coming together at the right place and right time.
How did the proposal go?
Wojciech: Before a long weekend getaway to Vernon, I secretly asked Amanda’s best friends to help me in the proposal. We met and discussed the time, date and place. On the day of the proposal the Lavender farm was closing sooner than anticipated so we looked for an alternative. We found the Japanese gardens in Kelowna. Amanda did not suspect a thing and was led onto a bridge inside the gardens. That is when I took out the ring and proposed. Of course the box the engagement ring was had to be upside down. Amanda thought it was a joke and could not believe what was happening. She said yes and started to cry. We then all went to the Cactus Club cafe (Our very first dinner date location) where we ate a nice meal and celebrated our engagement with really good friends.
What are some of your common interests?
A & W: We like to do outdoor activities together such as: biking, walking, going to the beach. We also like to cook together, watch movies and spend time with friends. And we go to church together every Sunday.
Any other special moments you’d like to share?
A & W: A week before I proposed Amanda was laid off from her job. This brought us closer and we learned a lot about each other. It made us realize that we can accomplish anything together and get through anything together. Wojciech started a memory shoe box of everything that they experienced together. It consists of movie tickets, dinner receipts, and the first lunch sandwich bag that Amanda used to make Wojciech’s first lunch.
