Got some questions? Here are some answers.
Anna believes in real moments. Real people. Real fun.
Q: Is this your full-time gig or what?
A: Anna has been a professional photographer since 2007, full-time since 2009. Anna is also a healthcare worker as of 2021!
Q: How do I go about booking Anna Michalska Photography for my wedding/engagement/cat’s birthday party?
A: Our first consultation will usually take place as a video chat, or in person at a cafe. Anna will ask you about your pets and how cute they are. Oh, and talk about wedding stuff, too. You’ll be sent home with a sweet magazine full of more information than you can shake a stick at. Post-meeting, Anna will follow up with you with booking information so you have the chance and leisure to decide on how to move forward without the worry to book on the spot. To reserve your date with Anna (for booking Calgary weddings) with the packages listed on the wedding photography prices page, a non-refundable retainer is due at the time of booking regardless of which package you decide to go with (which, by the way, you don’t have to have figured out until much later). Also, please invite Anna to your cat’s birthday party. She would freaking love that.
Q: How much of a dent will this be for my wallet?
A: All of the Calgary wedding packages are available here. Engagement Sessions are $450. Portrait Sessions are quoted on a per-event basis. Corporate events located in Calgary start at $295 per hour.
Q: Do you travel for weddings/events (destination weddings)?
A: Heck yes. Anna has traveled across Canada, the Tropics, and to England + France for weddings. Special rates apply for destination weddings.
Q: Is an Engagement Session necessary?
A: No, but it is highly encouraged. The wedding photographer is the one vendor that is going to be with you for the entirety of your wedding day, so building that rapport with them via an Engagement Session is the best way. Your wedding photographer will have a better understanding of your wedding day photo expectations and, in the end, you two get an awesome set of photos of just the two of you doing things that might otherwise not be possible on your wedding day. Definitely do it up.
Q: What if I suck at having my photo taken? I/my significant other hate having photos done.
A: All the more reason why you should consider an Engagement Session. There’s no better way to get familiar with being in front of the camera before your wedding day than an Engagement Session. Besides, Anna does her absolute best not to be stiff and pose-y with you. The best smiles happen when they are genuine, so think of an Engagement Session as a date with your significant other… just being photographed. Keeping to familiar surroundings for your Engagement Session not only ensures that you’re more comfortable, but also provides a unique setting for photos that are truly you.
All that aside, I do my best to help you feel at ease in front of the camera and to meet + exceed your expectations. My portfolio is 98% candid photography, and any kind of posing that I do is what I refer to as “gentle suggestion” to make sure I get a great image for you.
Q: When do we get to see our photos, and how many will we get back in total?
A: Typical editing time takes between 4-6 weeks. Anna goes through each image carefully to make it perfect for you. The amount of photos varies based on the amount of hours covered, and the formal events taking place; you should expect between 400-600 images from a 6 hour wedding Collection. And, just to tide you over for a bit while you wait for the rest of the images to be ready, Anna will send you a sneak peek from your session a few days after.
